I love my gadgets right. So I'm back at good 'ol Joshin Pit One maneuvering my way through tempting cameras (damnit, there's my almost perfect camera out now!! I WANT IT SO BAD!), pushing various buttons, and admiring various spiffy half-size notebook computers while my host sis and her hubby look for a printer.
So I wander towards the internetty section of the place and start leafing through some information. I innocently pick up a few leaflets on ADSL, broadband internet, cable, wireless for Carleigh. I turn around and SUDDENLY there's this very keen looking gentleman next to me, gesturing at my leaflets saying: "I couldn't help but notice you have one of our yellow leaflets in your hand. Are you interested in connecting to the internet?"
Me with slightly pained look on face, having only had 3 hours of sleep and difficulty concentrating in English let alone Japanese: "Err, my friend's thinking of getting the internet. I thought I'd grab a few of these for her."
Joshin Guy: "And do you access the internet miss?"
Me cursing the fact that the conversation hadn't quite ended yet - this guy's GOOD: "Yes, I use it at work."
Joshin Guy: "Excellent, well if you have any questions, just let me know."
Me: "OK."
... several seconds later, just when I thought I was safe.. we happen upon yet another non-sequitur moment in Japan...
Joshin Guy representing J-Com: "Excuse me. Here's my card and an additional promotional flyer. If you and your friend sign up for the internet with J-Com, you'll get 3000 yen off."
Me: "OK, this is for my friend though."
Joshin Guy representing J-Com: ".. hmm, maybe you don't understand, you'll get 3000 yen off. That's (he takes out his wallet and spreads out some money) 3 of these notes here. Just give me a call, my name is Akasa."
Me: "..... OK, I'll pass these onto my friend.. thanks!"
