What first compelled me to watch this movie was that it had armoured polar bears in it.
Little did I know, that the feature armoured polar bear, AKA Ice Bear (not to be confused with the disgusting Ice Beer), was voiced by the awesome Sir Ian McKellen!
I really enjoyed this movie. Nicole Kidman was great as a very creepy, evil character. Daniel Craig (who I've warmed to since seeing him as 007) has a small part in this film, but was pretty cool. The main character also had a great street accent. She topped Hermione's ballsy-ness WITHOUT the posh accent. Nice.
Lots of cute animals running around, too.
Oh, and hot witches. Although their flying seemed a bit High School Stage Play.
And a cowboy character with the bestest mo and accent.
However, there was one pretty graphic scene which took me completely by surprise.. and was a bit shocking actually.
It was at the end of the fight between the two rival Ice Bears. Sir Ian's bear was badly injured, but got a second wind and finished off the other bear by... prepare yourself: thwacking off the rival bear's lower jaw in one swoop (it's shown flying towards the viewer) and delivering the killer bite.
Preeeeeeetty gross.
All in all, two thumbs up. Though the kids (and squeamish adults like myself) may find some of it a bit EEEEEE.

The trilogy is a MUST READ, they're great books, I liked the second one the best. You can find them in the 'young adults' section of the bookshop.
