I Like Kuromitsu
German Almond Cake

Kuromitsu drops

Kuromitsu (lit. black syrup) is an intensely dark, sweet, sticky syrup used in a lot of wagashi (Japanese sweets). It's made out of a mixture of sugars, including dark brown sugar. Okinawa is famous for its brown sugar. It seems so much finer and darker than the stuff back home.

Here, we (and the table) are enjoying it with some German almond cake (cake courtesy of the lovely Iris and Anne).
