Photos / The Kun-ei Bunkasai

My my, these are MUCHOS late!  I can't even remember when bunkasai (the culture festival) was.. I took waaay more photos (try SEVENTY) but will spare my readers the eyestrain (and myself the OOS).  Here are those that made the cut:

in coffee room Here are Carleigh and me with some students and two of their favourite surrogate grandmas (I have no idea how they know each other).
Ss on level 2 More students waving at us from above.
neko no basu - TheCatBus The Cat Bus from my all-time favourite Japanese anime.. TOTORO!!  YAAAAYYY!!!  This was the cleverest stall in terms of design I think.
Totoro himself Totoro himself.  A game was played using the holes.  You had to throw a ball through.  The girls running this stall wore outfits similar to Mei-chan (little girl character in the movie) and served corn (what Mei liked to eat.. I think..)
Bunkasai overall winners Through all the blood, sweat and tears, SOMEONE's gotta win.  In this case, it was the girls fresh from their year in NZ.  Their performance was INCREDIBLY creepy!  It gave me the willies.  It was about dolls that killed some humans.  BRR..
My 3B girls My 3B girls do a very cool performance.  That's Ririko sitting atop a chair cleverly hidden under a huuuuge black piece of material that's got heaps of students underneath it moving around to make it look like the sea - VERY clever and very cool!
My 3A girls My 3A girls do a very colourful and cute performance based on things that are in a toybox.  There was stilt walking, unicycles, clowns, kitties.. tres impressive!
3A catgirls Catgirls from 3A.  From left to right are Minami (or was it Manami??), Mami, Sonoko, .. ARGH I've forgotten her name!! .. and Izumi.
crane art A massive piece of artwork made ENTIRELY of paper cranes!  WHOOOOOAAAA...
maimu-maimu I *think* this finale dance to the whole 2 days of cultural festival goodness is called Mime-Mime (well, the kids call it "maimu-maimu").  It's a sorta folk dancy piece where everyone joins hands and runs around and generally has a good time!
