On the way to Nagoya...
the bus ride to Nagoya was amusing. It was fairly empty but there was this elderly lady sitting behind me who reminded me of the Old Grumpy Men from The Muppets. She kept on whingeing about stuff to her husband who was pretty much silent the entire 3 hour trip. At one stage she was going on about how slow the bus was. but the funniest was when the bus driver, after a 10 minute rest stop said: Omatase tashi mashita ("sorry to keep you waiting" - this is used all the time even if you've only waited 10 seconds. It's protocol.), to which the woman said to her husband in a voice audible to everyone else on the bus: tomaranai, yappari.. ("well we shouldn't have stopped then don't you think?")
Heh heh.. I never expected someone Japanese to poke fun at an everyday Japanese thing.
Out and about Nagoya..
Atsuta Jingu temple. It houses sacred swords and articles that only the VERY big wigs of Japan get to view.
Food in NAGOYA!!
