Tokyo's Lack of Rubbish Bins

An extract from text messages I sent to a friend while I was in Tokyo:

My hunt to find a rubbish bin in this goddamn Ebisu station has taken me to places far and wide... I'm having the longest travellator/moving walkway experience of my life! Still no bin, though!

Later on, I come across these two...

Suica penguins
Oh, and I just saw these guys at Ebisu and wondered if they're so that frustrated rubbish bin searchers can release their anger by thumping 'em.

Note to non-Japanified readers: My penguin friends are mascots for the Suica travel pass card thingy -- one of the many ways Japan fattens up consumers' wallets with thick bits of plastic.
