Autumnal Pear Crumble
It's my favourite season of the year, autumn.
I like a lot of food, but food that I know for sure is especially good in autumn include potatoes, mushrooms and pears.
Unfortunately, as with most things in Japan, just because it's in season, doesn't mean it's going to be cheap.
Either way, I found myself buying a tray of four pears for about NZ$5. They've been sitting in my fridge for a while, so tonight, at about 11.15pm, I decided to make a pear crumble. I even found CLOVES in my box of spices.
I have to say, there is NOTHING QUITE as satisfying and, as the Japanese say, "kimochi iiiii" than rubbing butter into flour. Squidgy, soft, smooth, floury.. so much fun!
Happy.
