100 yen food! (J)

100 yen foodJapan, despite being extremely expensive to live in, occasionally pops up with unbelievable bargains. For example, these 100 yen (NZ$2) grocery items. I bought some Made in Holland blueberry jam (a little sweet but hell, $2!!), a 500g bottle of tomato ketchup and some fattening snacks.

I [HEART] my local Daikoku Drug Store. Apart from selling cheap toiletries, cleaners etc., they also have a large 100 yen food section. My only gripe is that they tend to play the same song on repeat. And when it's either the 3rd, 13th or 23rd of a month, the song is the "GST Free 3 Days A Month!" song. Sometimes the staff even join in with the singing. Usually in huge voices that scare the pants off you if you happen to be concentrating on which brand of 100 yen instant noodle to buy.
